Sony BDV-E280

Sony BDV-E280 Review

The Sony BDV-E280 5.1 surround sound system is such good value. I picked this up for £199.99 from Richer Sounds and you can't beat the price. This isn't just a blu ray player it's an AV reciever with 2 hdmi inputs and an optical in, enough for most peoples needs. The sound is great, the bass is loud, so loud in fact I had to turn it way down. for myself the iPod dock is useless as it just means more wires to the tv and the Sony box so I just use AirPlay through apple tv. I can't tell any difference between Dolby pro logic and dts audio so I have it in Dolby unless watching a blu ray, then I set it to the setting on the disk. Simple interface, good use of Internet tv services BBC Iplayer etc. for the money I don't think it can be beaten especially with the available inputs. 5 out of 5 Chech out the video review on my YouTube channel

  1. hey dude, since having this I've never been savvy enough 2 get my head around one of its tech specs. It says one of its supported audio formats is 7.1 but as the system is a 5.1 just can't work out the logic here. Can u shine any light here?

  2. I believe it supports 7.1 by encoding it into 5.1 thus simulating 7.1 as best it can, so its not actual 7.1.

    1. You can control the levels for the speakers. Setup-audio setting - speaker settings - levels. Turn the sub down to reduce bass and most treble/voice comes through the centre speaker. Other than that you could try changing the sound mode from music to movie or auto.

      Hope this helps.
